Features: Rhetoric is one of the most difficult courses for Chinese students. It is well-known that using language without considering its rhetorical aspects is impossible. To select the appropriate linguistic means for successful communication, multiple factors must be considered: on one hand, one should pay attention to the social context of communication, the form of communication, the purpose of communication, and the relationship between communicators; on the other hand, one must also consider the rhetorical connotations and collocation patterns of words. Therefore, to use rhetorical means of language correctly, one must first choose the functional style required for communication in a specific context and the linguistic means suitable for that context. For example, official language should be used in official documents (such as applications, commissions, etc.), while it is inappropriate to use it in other styles. The task of this book: on one hand, it aims to help students acquire theoretical knowledge of functional rhetoric; on the other hand, it develops their practical ability to analyze linguistic materials in the fields of Russian functional rhetoric and practical rhetoric based on their theoretical understanding. Its ultimate goal is to improve students' communicative competence, because without mastering the rhetorical norms of Russian, it is impossible to engage in communication smoothly. The structure of each chapter in the first part is as follows: 1) theoretical materials; 2) self-assessment questions and exercises; 3) practice exercises. The second part only provides practice exercises. Answers to more challenging exercises and a Russian-Chinese rhetorical terminology glossary are appended at the end of the book.
