Features: To meet the challenges of joining the WTO and the needs of universities and learners to improve their business English skills, Higher Education Press has introduced the MarketLeader and PowerHouse series textbooks published by Pearson Education Publishing Group and adapted them into the "Experiencing Business English" series textbooks. This series consists of "Comprehensive Course," "Synchronous Practice," "Listening and Speaking Course," "Teacher's Book," as well as accompanying audio cassettes and video materials. The series provides learners with a new learning approach—learning business English through experience, thereby enhancing their ability to use English for business communication. To cater to the characteristics of Chinese learners of business English, the adaptation team has supplemented the original textbooks with annotations on business knowledge and glossaries with both Chinese and English notes. The "Experiencing Business English" series textbooks have a global perspective and a modern touch, with its features primarily reflected in the following aspects: introducing the real content of international business activities into classroom teaching to experience the authentic business world. In business English teaching, the lack of real business activities and the inability to fully integrate business activities with English teaching have long been a challenge for teachers. This series textbooks provides a wealth of real and vivid materials for business English teaching, enabling students to master language skills while understanding the current state of modern international business, thereby achieving the goal of learning language and improving business communication skills through experience. This feature is reflected in the diverse international business content in the selection, covering all aspects and contemporary topics of business activities under modern market economy conditions, such as globalization, international marketing, technological innovation, marketing strategies, corporate culture, market competition, business risks, crisis management, e-commerce, and more. Role-playing and case studies take experiential learning to a deeper level. The outstanding feature of this series is its task-based and experiential teaching activity design. Each unit of "Comprehensive Course" and "Listening and Speaking Course" includes communicative tasks such as role-playing and case studies. Each communicative task is based on real business communication scenarios, with clear objectives, encouraging learners to reuse the language knowledge they have learned while completing the tasks, improving their communication skills, and integrating their experiences and perspectives into the activities. The teaching design is rigorous, laying a solid foundation for experiential learning. Each unit of "Comprehensive Course" introduces teaching through discussions on topics relevant to learners. This is followed by related business vocabulary, listening and reading, grammar, and business skills. Various task-based activities are interspersed. Finally, case studies and business writing exercises are conducted after learners have thoroughly studied and mastered the relevant content and skills. The unit design of "Listening and Speaking Course" focuses on language and business skills, combining the study and discussion of business vocabulary and grammar. The listening and reading sections include communicative activities such as role-playing, followed by case studies or skill application. The overall layout is progressive, with prior learning laying the foundation for practical communicative training such as role-playing and case studies. Teaching resources are abundant, providing strong support for experiential teaching. "Comprehensive Course" and "Listening and Speaking Course" are primarily intended for classroom use. Most of the materials in "Comprehensive Course" are derived from articles in renowned financial and economic publications such as The Financial Times in recent years, making them timely, concise, and vivid. The materials in "Listening and Speaking Course" are more diverse, including excerpts from contemporary movies and fragments of novels. The accompanying "Synchronous Practice" for "Comprehensive Course" can be used for self-study and testing, and the "Teacher's Book" also provides reproducible supplementary reading and skill exercises for extracurricular learning, which teachers can choose to use. The accompanying audio and video materials (including short films, interviews with famous entrepreneurs, etc.) provide vivid audiovisual resources that can be used for classroom teaching or supplementary learning. Written with the learners' needs and interests in mind, experiential learning becomes more convenient. The themes in "Comprehensive Course" are carefully selected through extensive research among teachers and students, reflecting the needs and interests of most learners and stimulating further study and exploration. The study of vocabulary, grammar, and language skills is closely tied to business topics, adding relevance and to language learning while maintaining standardization. The grammar section is brief, concise, with vivid examples, and includes a grammar review at the back of the book for added convenience. Additionally, the lively layout and thought-provoking images make the learning of business English more visual and intuitive. This book is the second volume of "Comprehensive Course," containing 12 units and 4 review lessons, covering modern business activities, including themes such as careers, online sales, companies, creativity, stress, entertainment, marketing, planning, personnel management, conflict, new businesses, and products. At the back of the book are a grammar summary (Grammar reference), writing activities (Writing file), role-playing (Activity file), and adapted glossaries and notes (Glossary and notes). The "Experiencing Business English" series textbooks are widely applicable, serving as business English textbooks for majors such as international trade and economics, international finance, and other foreign-related disciplines; as business English textbooks for English majors; as elective course materials for college English; and as industry training textbooks.
