Features: Following the guidance of the Graduate Education Office of the Ministry of Education, the authors have adjusted, updated, revised, and enriched the content of each chapter based on the first edition of Surgery—Frontiers and Controversies. The second edition contains over 1.6 million words and consists of 48 chapters, with contributions from 55 renowned domestic surgeons, all of whom are doctoral supervisors. Additionally, 34 surgical experts, including 10 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, have been invited to write commentaries. This enables readers to explore the frontiers and controversies in surgery from a multi-dimensional perspective, aiming to inspire independent thinking and a spirit of exploration among graduate students in surgery.
Building upon the first edition, the second edition also includes necessary adjustments and adds the following chapters: Chapter on the History of Modern Surgery, Chapter 9 on the Application of Antibiotics in Surgery, Chapter 37 on Endourology, and Chapter 47 on Bioactive Bone Repair Materials; Section 7 of Chapter 24 on Vascular and Lymphatic Surgery (Clinical Research Progress in Vascular Surgery), Section 8 of Chapter 27 on Hepatic Surgery (Liver Transplantation), and Section 3 of Chapter 29 on Pancreatic Surgery (Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Treatment of Acute Severe Pancreatitis) and Section 4 of Chapter 29 on the Surgical Treatment of Chronic Pancreatitis.
In the original second edition, Section 4 of Chapter 25 on Hepatic Surgery (Treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma) was revised to Section 4 of Chapter 27 on Hepatic Surgery (Treatment of Hepatocellular Carcinoma) in the second edition.
