In the mid-20th century, with the rapid development of field archaeology in China, under the guidance of scientific field archaeology excavation methods, a large number of precious artifacts were scientifically unearthed by archaeologists. It is well-known that the various materials unearthed by archaeology are direct, authentic remnants and faithful reflections of the material and spiritual lives of ancient people. Their increasing abundance has led to new understandings of research methods and perspectives in historical studies. Archaeological materials and literary records have become the "two rails of a carriage and the two wings of a bird" in historical research—neither can be lacking. The study of musical history is no exception. Mr. Yang Yinliu introduced archaeological materials early on in his works on musical history. This not only became a model and trend for the study of ancient Chinese musical history at the time and later, influencing the next generation of scholars, but also laid the groundwork for the formation of Chinese musical archaeology.
