Sun Real Person's Qianjin Formula:

Author: Sun Simiao (Tang Dynasty)
Publisher:
Publication Date: 2000-07-01
Features: The Jinquan Fang (Essential Formulas for Saving Life) by the True Master Sun is an ancient manuscript of the Jinquan Yaofang discovered in the late Qing Dynasty. The entire book survives only in twenty volumes (specifically, volumes 1-5, 11-15, and 21-30). It covers various medical topics, including general medical principles, formulas for women, pediatric care, and the treatment of internal organ diseases (liver, gallbladder, heart, small intestine, spleen), as well as conditions such as diabetes, urinary retention, and sores or hemorrhoids. Additionally, it explains various emergency first-aid methods, health-preserving exercises, dietary treatments, and acupuncture. This book differs from the Song Dynasty edition of the Jinquan Yaofang in terms of the order of chapters, paragraph structure, wording, and prescriptions. The Zhenben Jinquan Fang is a handwritten manuscript copied from a Tang Dynasty original by Japanese scholar Waki Tsugusei. It survives in only one volume. Its style, text, and the order of medicinal ingredients in the pharmacopeia differ from the Song Dynasty edition, preserving the original form of Sun Simiao's work. In summary, both books have not been revised by Song Dynasty scholars and have largely retained the original appearance of the Tang Dynasty Jinquan Yaofang, despite being incomplete. They remain valuable resources for studying the Jinquan Yaofang and Sun Simiao's academic thought, as well as for research on Tang Dynasty medicine. After systematic collation and editing by Li Jingrong and others from the Shaanxi Research Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, this book provides reliable textual resources for TCM research, holding significant academic value and some clinical utility. This book is part of the series "Collation and Organization of Ancient Jinquan Fang Manuscripts," alongside Baiji Jinquan Yaofang Jieshi (Annotated Explanation of Emergency Jinquan Fang) and Qianjin Yi Fang Jieshi (Annotated Explanation of Jinquan Yi Fang). It is suitable for reference by TCM researchers and clinical practitioners.
