Features: This book is compiled based on the new PETS examination syllabus issued by the Ministry of Education. It features ingenious and well-designed content and structure. Structurally, we separate core vocabulary (unique to this level) and basic vocabulary for clear presentation. In terms of content, each entry generally consists of the following parts: headword, phonetic transcription, part of speech, inflectional forms of the headword, definitions, memory techniques, typical example sentences, key points, vocabulary expansion, and classic exam questions.
(1) Headword: Words and phrases specified in the PETS examination syllabus vocabulary list.
(2) Phonetic Transcription: The pronunciation of the headword is indicated using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) after the headword. If a word has different pronunciations depending on its part of speech, both pronunciations are placed in brackets and separated by a semicolon. Generally, one pronunciation is marked for each headword, but less common variant pronunciations are also provided when applicable, separated by a semicolon.
(3) Part of Speech: The part of speech is indicated in italicized English abbreviations. If a headword has multiple parts of speech, they are listed in order of commonality.
(4) Inflectional Forms of the Headword: This refers to irregular forms of verbs, irregular plural forms of nouns, irregular comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs, etc. For convenience, we systematically organize and summarize irregular verb forms and irregular plural noun forms, which are included as appendices in the book.
(5) Symbols and Typography Usage Notes
