Features: The author has been teaching Japanese to international students at a specialized school. During the teaching process, he found that the students had a strong desire—to learn practical Japanese for daily life, such as job hunting, entrance interview preparation, and conversations in places like immigration offices, hospitals, banks, post offices, and transportation authorities. To fulfill the students' wishes, the author searched many bookstores for teaching materials but couldn't find any that he considered suitable, which surprised him. He thought that as someone with experience in studying abroad and now working as a Japanese language educator, it was his duty to create a practical life Japanese textbook for international students. Thus, the author wrote the original draft of this textbook based on his many personal experiences and study abroad background. With the help and guidance of many Japanese colleagues, the manuscript was revised and improved. This textbook was born under such circumstances.
The textbook is structured around Liu Xuesheng, a student from Dalian who came to Japan for study, and it covers various scenarios he might encounter. Each lesson is presented in the form of dialogues, followed by vocabulary notes and Chinese translations. Additionally, there are sections for related expressions and small pieces of knowledge. The textbook can be used in any order—students can follow the sequence or start with the lessons they find most urgent. The dialogues in the lessons are essential to daily life, so it is recommended to memorize them as comprehensively as possible.
Due to the desire to fulfill the students' wishes as soon as possible, this textbook was written in a relatively rushed manner, and some flaws and errors are inevitable. If you discover any mistakes, please kindly point them out so they can be corrected in future revisions. We sincerely hope that all international students will have a happy, meaningful, fulfilling, and rich study abroad experience in Japan through learning this textbook. Let's strive for it!
