Features: The "Dictionary of Russian Body Language" consists of nearly two hundred entries and includes two types of indexes: alphabetical and by meaning. Each entry includes the following five components:
1. Title word (basic and extended idiomatic phrases describing actions and postures, expressed in the book's language)
2. Description of the action or posture
3. Meaning of the action/posture, usage context, and rhetorical color
4. Statements accompanying the action/posture
5. Example sentences selected from literary works or written by the compiler. In some entries, additional idioms derived from the action and still in use in modern Russian are appended. Most entries are accompanied by illustrations.
This dictionary is the first to combine language (i.e., fixed phrases used in daily Russian to express actions and postures) with descriptions of the actions/postures themselves and their meanings. It is not only suitable for students learning Russian as a foreign language, teachers of Russian as a foreign language, and Russian translators but also for readers interested in auxiliary linguistics.
