Features: Intermediate Chinese Listening is a listening textbook designed for non-native Chinese speakers learning Chinese. It is suitable for students who have completed the basic grammar of modern Chinese and have mastered the Level A and B characters and vocabulary as specified in the Outline for Chinese Language Proficiency Vocabulary and Characters. The textbook is divided into two volumes, each containing 34 lessons, with two sets of comprehensive exercises for each volume. Each lesson can be completed in two class periods, with 4 hours of study per week. For a semester of 18 weeks, the entire textbook can be used over one academic year. This textbook is developed in accordance with the Outline for Chinese Language Teaching for Foreign Students in Higher Education, aiming to achieve standardization and enable students to reach an intermediate level of Chinese listening proficiency through study. To enhance the engagement of the material, efforts have been made to ensure a rich variety of topics and fresh content. The textbook strives for stylistic diversity, with most lessons adapted from natural language materials found in books, magazines, broadcasts, and online sources, preserving the distinct styles of different authors. Since teachers often have varying teaching paces, the textbook intentionally includes additional exercises to avoid issues such as having too much time left over when covering one lesson or not enough time when covering two. To meet the growing demands of students for Chinese proficiency exams, the textbook includes targeted exercises specifically designed for this purpose.
