Features: "Zhāng Lǎoshī Jiāo Hànzì" is a textbook for Chinese character elective courses designed for international students starting from zero level, especially beginners from non-Chinese cultural circles. Based on the actual situation of Chinese character learning by international students, the textbook is divided into two parts: "Chinese Character Recognition and Writing Textbook" and "Chinese Character Spelling Textbook," allowing for appropriate separation between writing instruction and recognition instruction.
(1) The "Chinese Character Recognition and Writing Textbook" uses the "picture method" as the starting point for form-meaning association, with the classification of semantic radicals in phono-semantic compounds as the main thread. It focuses on the writing, etymology, and structural analysis of Chinese characters, aiming to help learners build a clear cognitive structure suitable for Chinese characters.
(2) The "Chinese Character Spelling Textbook" uses the "shape-matching method" to establish relational associations and analogies between Chinese characters, with the classification of phonetic radicals in phono-semantic compounds as the main thread. It highlights Chinese character learning strategies in the form of "memory tips," intending to provide students with a systematic approach to transform the rules of character construction into the rules of character recognition.
(3) To more effectively master Chinese characters, the textbook also pays attention to the relationship between character meaning and word meaning. It provides some words composed of the learned characters and example sentences for each word that should be mastered, hoping to deepen the understanding of these characters and words in context.
(4) The textbook also introduces Chinese character learning strategies while teaching Chinese characters, embodying the recycling memory method for Chinese characters. It encourages learners to think of familiar characters when encountering new ones, seek similarities, and expand generalization by using familiar characters to learn new ones. Through continuous repetition and derivation, learners can master as many characters as possible.
"Zhāng Lǎoshī Jiāo Hànzì" is based on the "Chinese Character Proficiency Vocabulary and Character Level Framework" issued by the National Office for Chinese Language Education, and it includes a total of 1,885 characters, including all Level A and B characters, as well as over 260 Level C and D characters. Additionally, there are 20 extra-curricular characters, such as "hàn," "hán," and "lào," to meet students' needs.
The "Chinese Character Recognition and Writing Textbook" includes 780 characters, with approximately 630 Level A characters, over 120 Level B characters, and a small number of Level C and D characters used as radicals. The textbook consists of 25 lessons, and each lesson requires two class hours.
The "Chinese Character Recognition and Writing Textbook" is accompanied by a workbook, while the "Chinese Character Spelling Textbook" is accompanied by a CD.
