As the origin of Chinese culture, the arguments and philosophical ideas of the Analects have permeated China's political and educational systems, social customs, psychological habits, and behavioral patterns for over two thousand years. How can the ancient classics be revitalized in the new "cultural reconstruction"? The Analects is a treasure of Confucianism in China, recording the words and deeds of Confucius and his disciples from over two and a half thousand years ago. Yang Bojun's Translation and Annotations of the Analects has long been renowned for its accurate annotations and straightforward translations, making it one of the best editions of the Analects in the modern era, highly esteemed both in academia and among readers. However, its publication in traditional characters has posed inconvenience for many readers. To address this, the editors have now published it in simplified characters to meet the needs of a broader audience. Due to the switch to simplified characters, some of the original annotations are no longer applicable, and the editors have made corresponding adjustments. The On the Nature of Confucius, Introduction, and Dictionary of the Analects in the traditional character edition are the fruits of Yang Bojun's research. Readers who wish to delve deeper into the Analects or ancient Chinese may refer to the traditional character edition of Translation and Annotations of the Analects.
