Features: Since 1987, I have been teaching courses on classical Chinese grammar at the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Shandong University, and have conducted systematic research on The Compendium of Classical Chinese Grammar by Ma Xian. Through teaching and research, I gradually accumulated my own insights and completed a small monograph of about 100,000 words on the study of The Compendium of Classical Chinese Grammar by Ma Xian in the early 1990s. Due to various reasons, this monograph was only published by Shandong University Press in 1997, which is A Study of The Compendium of Classical Chinese Grammar by Ma Xian. Since then, academic research on ancient Chinese grammar and The Compendium of Classical Chinese Grammar by Ma Xian has continued to develop, yielding a wealth of new research. The exploration of many issues has become increasingly in-depth, and understanding has grown clearer. In my recent teaching and research, I have focused on many issues related to The Compendium of Classical Chinese Grammar by Ma Xian and have gained some new insights and understandings. Therefore, since 2002, I have revised and supplemented A Study of The Compendium of Classical Chinese Grammar by Ma Xian, corrected some of its viewpoints, and added new content, resulting in a revised edition that is roughly twice the length of the original. Due to my limited knowledge, it is still possible that there are shortcomings in the book. I sincerely welcome criticism and corrections from my academic peers.
