Features: Building a new socialist countryside is a major strategic decision proposed by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in the new era. However, due to the complexity, long-term nature, and arduousness of new countryside construction, current theoretical and policy research far fails to meet the needs of practice, especially in-depth studies that combine theory, practice, and policy are particularly lacking. This book is a significant work that fills this gap. Based on the comprehensive application of various research methods, it offers a unique interpretation of new countryside construction, constructs a human-centered development theory model and indicator system for new countryside construction, and for the first time ranks and categorizes the starting conditions of new countryside construction across all provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in China according to this indicator system. It summarizes domestic and international experiences in new countryside construction, as well as several models and cases, issues warnings about potential problems and pitfalls in the process, and proposes a distinctive set of countermeasures for new countryside construction at three levels: the central government, local governments (provinces, cities, counties, and towns), and villages. It also explores new planning models and industrial development models for new countryside construction, offering important theoretical guidance and reference significance for the development of new countryside in China.
