Features: This textbook is designed for intermediate-level students of Chinese who have studied the language for more than two years. One of the purposes of foreign students learning Chinese is to understand China. For this reason, the texts in this book are all selected from recent newspapers and magazines, aiming to reflect the significant changes in Chinese society since the reform and opening-up, especially over the past decade. To meet teaching needs, all selected texts have been appropriately adapted. The book is divided into five units, each containing several texts on related topics to help students understand different aspects of social issues. For convenience in teaching, the texts are divided into main texts and supplementary texts. The main texts require intensive reading, while the supplementary texts serve as extensive reading materials to broaden students' reading scope. The exercises in this book are divided into three parts: vocabulary exercises, grammar exercises, and discourse training.
