Features: Naitong (1856-1925) was a Manchu from the Aisin Gioro clan of the Qing Dynasty, styled Qinxuan, and a Jinshi graduate. In 1899, he served as the Minister of Court of Propaganda and an Academician of the Grand Council. In 1900, he became a member of the Imperial Household Department. Naitong's Diary spans from the 16th year of the Guangxu reign (1890) to the 14th year of the Republic of China (1925), covering 36 years and approximately 800,000 words. It is systematic and comprehensive, covering a wide time span and significant historical phases such as the First Sino-Japanese War, the Hundred Days' Reform, the Eight-Nation Alliance's invasion of Beijing, and the Xinhai Revolution. It holds great value for the study of late Qing and early Republican politics, diplomacy, military affairs, and even the daily lives and behaviors of officials.
