1. Han Yuanji is not mentioned in the History of Song, and his biographical sketches, epitaphs, and collected works are incomplete. Previous scholars rarely discussed his poetry or writings, leading to his obscure legacy. This genealogy meticulously compiles all available documents from the Southern Song Dynasty that mention the Han family, including historical records, collected works, local gazettes, and personal notes, without omitting any details. The aim is to piece together a comprehensive picture.
2. The genealogy records events chronologically, first listing major historical events of the year to provide context for the subject’s activities. Subsequently, the subject’s activities are listed in chronological order. Dates with records are clearly marked, while those without are estimated to a specific period.
3. Below each event, there are annotations for verification. All cited sources are thoroughly referenced for readers to cross-check.
4. Many of the subject’s poems and writings are lost. Sun Xinghua compiled three pieces, which have been appended to the current Nanjian Jia Yi Guo. For the convenience of readers, omissions compiled by Mr. Yue Guiming from the Yongle Dadian (Collected Works from the Yongle Encyclopedia, Zhonghua Book Company, October 1982 edition) and those compiled by the editor from other classical texts are also appended to this genealogy.
