Cultivation. Realm. Aesthetics: An Interpretation of Confucian, Taoist, and Buddhist Aesthetics of Cultivation

Author: Wang Jianjiang
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2003-12-01
Features: This book explores ancient Chinese aesthetics from the perspective of Confucian, Taoist, and Buddhist cultivation aesthetics, creatively proposes the concept of "inner aesthetics," and for the first time reveals the aesthetic secrets of life cultivation and life realms, achieving breakthroughs in the research of aesthetic principles. Considering the relative holism of Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism, as well as issues related to the second printing, several chapters from previously published research on the aesthetics of Zhuangzi and Chan Buddhism have been comprehensively revised, with the integration of the text's overall context, refinement of ideas, academic processing, and additions/deletions of materials and annotations. These revisions have formed a cohesive whole, making it convenient for readers. The original title of this book was "The Aesthetic of Cultivation in Confucianism and Buddhism," but upon the suggestion of my mentor, Professor Zhu Liyuan, it was changed to the current title, which seems more appropriate.
