Features: According to the requirements of the Department of Social and Political Education of the Ministry of Education, our university will offer the course "Introduction to Deng Xiaoping Theory and the Important Thought of Three Represents" in the fall semester of 2003. This textbook was collectively compiled by teachers from the Department of Social Sciences to meet the needs of teaching. In compiling this textbook, we strive to achieve the following: First, in terms of the curriculum system, we adhere to the spirit of the syllabus on this course issued by the Department of Social and Political Education of the Ministry of Education while summarizing and reflecting the new achievements in teaching and research related to this course in recent years. Second, in terms of the course content, we focus on organically integrating Deng Xiaoping Theory and the Important Thought of Three Represents to demonstrate the development of contemporary Chinese Marxism. Third, as an attempt, this textbook clarifies the basic theories in a clear and concise manner while selecting relevant original works and reading materials, enabling students to grasp the profound theoretical connotations from primary sources, thereby enhancing the readability of the textbook. Fourth, each chapter also includes some "Hot Topic Discussions," reflecting the current research status and trends in the field of theory at our university, leaving some room and space for teaching activities.
