Features: Since the beginning of the new century, Renmin University of China, under the leadership of the new leadership team, has practiced the Important Thought of "Three Represents," strived to build a world-renowned first-class university, upheld the banner of "development is the hard truth," and comprehensively advanced all aspects of work centered on discipline planning and construction, campus planning and construction, achieving remarkable achievements. To comprehensively reflect the situation and achievements of the university's work since the beginning of the new century and fully demonstrate the historical process of building a world-renowned first-class university with humanities and social sciences as the main focus, Renmin University of China decided to launch the compilation of the "Annual." The compilation of the "Annual" was recognized as an innovative and significant work for Renmin University, with far-reaching significance for the university's development in the new century. Renmin University of China is a comprehensive, research-oriented key university, primarily focused on humanities, social sciences, and management sciences, with a secondary focus on information science, environmental science, and management engineering. Its predecessor was the North Shaanxi Public College, founded in 1937 amid the flames of the Anti-Japanese War, as well as later institutions such as North China Union University, Peking University, and North China University. On October 3, 1950, Renmin University of China was officially established on the basis of North China University, becoming the first new university founded in New China. Renowned educators Wu Yuzhang, Cheng Fangwu, Yuan Baohua, Huang Da, and Li Wenhai served as presidents successively. The current president is Professor Ji Baocheng, and the party secretary is Professor Cheng Tianquan. Since the beginning of the new century, Renmin University of China has entered a new period of accelerated development in its history. All faculty, staff, and students have worked hard to practice the Important Thought of "Three Represents," further emancipating the mind, seeking truth from facts, keeping pace with the times, and pioneering and innovating, striving to achieve the grand goal of building a world-class university with humanities and social sciences as the main focus. This annual contains rich content, concise text, accurate data, and exquisite printing, covering the important progress of the university's work in 2002 and basic data on the reform and development of the university, marking a new step in the fundamental work of Renmin University's administrative management.
