Features: The fundamental nature of the humanities is sometimes particularly highlighted in the theological sense of having no retreat. May the logic of theology be able to support a realm beyond the confines of language, enabling us to discard any presumption of overreach while still having the strength to take responsibility for guarding meaning. In terms of the academic context on the mainland, research on Christian theology is largely "performed by outsiders." This is undoubtedly related to the fact that theology cannot yet independently enter the academic establishment, but it may also be due to the significant differences between theological discourse within the church and academic contexts. Both aspects involve the public nature of theology. In short, the first should lead us to the theoretical basis for why theological research is "performed by outsiders"; the second requires us to consider how theology within the church can establish itself in secular society and realize its value. Only by fully recognizing both aspects of the public nature can the "faith community" of Christianity fulfill the potential of being a "discourse community."
