Features: As an interdisciplinary subfield of political science, public administration, management science, sociology, and other disciplines, policy science has experienced rapid development since its formation in the 1950s. Since the 1980s, China has also witnessed a surge in policy science research. However, reviewing the significant literature on public policy both domestically and internationally over the past half-century reveals that the field of public policy research primarily focuses on three areas: the methodology of policy science, policy process studies, and sectoral public policy. There is relatively little discussion specifically addressing the actors, processes, and effectiveness of local public policy at the local level. From the perspective of the book's topic, it is evident that it is an attempt to examine the normative, actual, and potential aspects of local public policy from four perspectives—political rationality, political norms, political experience, and political development—centered on political science analytical methods. In terms of research methodology, it strives to combine the strengths of rational analysis, normative analysis, and empirical analysis. In terms of research content, it aims to explore the macro and micro aspects of local public policy, as well as its current status and future development directions.
