Features: The general assessment of the current situation of China's cultural heritage cause by the Chinese heritage community is as follows: Since China has implemented the policies of "reform and opening up" and "building a socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics," the achievements in China's cultural heritage protection have been greater than at any time in the past, while the damage to and the problems faced by China's cultural heritage have also been more numerous and severe. Since the mid-1990s, discussions on the relationship between heritage protection and tourism development, as well as the management systems and models of heritage tourism, have widely appeared in academic journals, seminars, internal reports, and various media, often in the form of intense debates. This debate not only exists within the Chinese academic community and among various sectors of society but has also extended to different departments of the Chinese government, as well as between the central government and local governments. This book comprehensively and typically expresses the views of the Chinese academic community, heritage management sector, and government departments. The entire book is divided into four parts based on the type of topic: they are "Cultural Heritage Science," "Protection of Large Sites," "Museum Studies," and "Management and Operation of Cultural Heritage." Among these, "Management and Operation of Cultural Heritage" is a hot topic in contemporary China and the global heritage community, and also the focus of this book.
