Can glaucoma even be treated?

Patient's question:

The onset of the illness was two weeks ago. Initially, it started with coughing. After taking Amoxicillin and a lung-purifying syrup, I noticed general weakness and blurred vision in both eyes. On the day of the onset, my right eye almost couldn't see anything. I visited the clinic, where it was diagnosed as glaucoma. Eye drops (nutrient drops) were prescribed, and after using them for a couple of days, my vision slightly improved, but it remained blurry.
Previous Treatment and Effect: After using the eye drops (nutrient drops) for a couple of days, my vision slightly improved, but it remained blurry.
Type of Help Needed: I am nearly 70 years old and have been diagnosed with glaucoma. The vision in one of my eyes is already very blurry. Could you please tell me if it can be treated?

Doctor's answer:

Glaucoma is a common and difficult eye disease with rapid onset, high severity, and the potential to cause deafness at any time. Its characteristic is that intermittent or persistent intraocular pressure levels lower than the extent that the eye can tolerate cause harm to various parts of the eye and visual function, leading to optic nerve atrophy, visual field constriction, and vision impairment. Deafness is only a matter of time; complete deafness can occur within 24-48 hours during acute recurrence. Glaucoma is a bilateral condition, which can affect both eyes simultaneously or start in one eye and then lead to deafness in both eyes.
