Features: Everyone needs to interact with others, and therefore everyone needs to coordinate their behavior with others. Etiquette, as a social norm for coordinating relationships between people, differs from the law. The formulation of legal norms is based on logical assumptions about reality, making them universal and abstract behavioral guidelines that provide only a boundary for permitted behavior. Etiquette, on the other hand, is a behavioral norm directly derived from daily life, being specific and practical. It guides people on what behavior is appropriate in what situations. Both law and etiquette are social norms for coordinating people's behavior, but the former only provides a general framework for behavioral choices, while the latter offers concrete and practical guidance for people's behavioral choices in real life (this is precisely why the title of this book is "Modern Practical Etiquette"). Therefore, as long as you need to interact with others, you need to understand and master etiquette. Only by aligning your behavior with etiquette can you coordinate your actions with others and build harmonious and coordinated interpersonal relationships.
The structure of this book is divided into four parts. Part 1 covers daily basic etiquette, consisting of five aspects: handshaking, greetings, introductions, address forms, and making phone calls. These are fundamental etiquette that everyone needs to understand and master. As long as you live in modern society, regardless of whether you have a profession or what kind of profession you are in, you will encounter these etiquette. Part 2 deals with personal image etiquette, including four aspects: attire, grooming, demeanor, and speech. This is a particularly important etiquette for those who value their public image, especially professionals who frequently interact with the public. For them, their personal image also represents the image of their professional collective. Whether they personally choose to pay attention to their outward appearance or not, they cannot ignore the grooming of their image. Part 3 covers etiquette for different occasions, including four aspects: dining invitations, visits and farewells, workplace etiquette, and public places. The content of workplace etiquette is relatively extensive, so it is divided into two lectures for explanation. This is etiquette that readers can selectively learn and familiarize themselves with based on their scope of social interaction and the nature of their social activities. Part 4 covers international etiquette, including Southeast Asian customs and Western etiquette. This is the etiquette knowledge that readers who engage in international interactions need to understand and master.
