Features: Historical revelation, humans have almost uniformly chosen stone as their primary material for processing and utilization in their own development and evolution. The labor applied to stone and the resulting stone-carved culture are widespread globally, spanning history. Different stone carvings from various regions embody the wisdom and rich intellectual understanding of humans across different periods. Different ethnic groups have used the same method—carving stone—to record and create their civilizations. The vast array of colorful stone-carved cultural artifacts in Tibet have been eroded by natural wind and rain, and pushed forward by the winds of history, allowing later generations to appreciate and study them. The Yawang Mountain Cliff Carvings are one of the typical representatives among them. Yawang Mountain is one of Tibet's famous sacred mountains and the birthplace of Tibetan medicine. The cliff carvings and linear inscriptions of the Six Syllable Mantra scattered throughout the mountain exhibit diverse styles. With their wide range of themes and rich content, they stand out in the geographical distribution of Tibetan stone-carved culture, gaining fame both domestically and internationally. The number of cliff carvings at Yawang Mountain is undoubtedly the highest in Tibet. Preliminary statistics of those preserved today still number over five thousand. In terms of the era of carving, they span from ancient times to the present day. Even today, we can still see devout folk stone carvers working tirelessly under Yawang Mountain, swinging small hammers for long periods, their continuous stone-carving sounds audible from afar. New works are created every day.
