Publish Date: 2006-06-01
Features: Goku is always lazy and carefree, with a smile that seems indifferent. The Buddha's smile, however, is like a lotus flower. That day, the Buddha asked Goku, "Do you really think you came from a stone?" Originally, I thought Jin He Zai's Goku's Journey had already been the most popular and meaningful reinterpretation of Journey to the West. But after reading Buddha vs. Goku, I realized what "there's always something beyond the horizon" truly means. Goku's Prequel—Buddha vs. Goku combines humor with depth, and Lu Fei's Pig truly brought a legendary love to the world. It was this love that finally led the Buddha to enlightenment. In that moment he turned away, the Buddha's left eye shed tears, and his right eye did the same. With a wave of his hand, he bid farewell to the mortal world and walked toward the Bodhi tree. That drop of blood sealed his worldly love and longing forever. Is Goku the Buddha's long-forgotten past? And is the forget-me-not grass on the empty mountain the soul of the woman the Buddha loved? Can there truly be no peace between the Buddha and the demon?
