Features: The full title of Sanxi Tang Fapti is Yuke Sanxi Tang Shiqu Baba Jieti, compiled by Liang Shizheng et al. under imperial decree in the 12th year of the Qianlong reign (1747 AD). It includes 347 works of calligraphy by 135 calligraphers from the Wei, Jin, and Ming dynasties (including anonymous artists). From Zhong Yao of the Wei Dynasty to Dong Qichang of the Ming Dynasty, it covers over four hundred years of renowned calligraphic masterpieces, making it a monumental collection. The Qianlong Emperor acquired three rare ink rubbings by the great calligraphers Wang Xizhi of the Jin Dynasty (Kuaixue Shiqing), Wang Xianzhi (Zhongqiu), and Wang Xun (Boyuan). Due to their rarity, he named the room where he kept them "Sanxi Chamber" (Three Rare Chamber). Later, he ordered Liang Shizheng et al. to compile the calligraphic works in the imperial collection, including those from the "Sanxi Chamber," spanning from the Wei and Jin to the Ming dynasties. They gathered skilled artisans to carve the works into stone, naming the collection Sanxi Tang Fapti. After its publication, Sanxi Tang Fapti was highly regarded and remained popular for over two hundred years. The only drawback is that many of the works in the collection are in cursive script, making them difficult for general learners to recognize, which to some extent affects the practical value of the collection.
