Patient's question:
The child has had convulsions similar to epilepsy. I searched online and feel that it might be tic disorder. So, what exactly is tic disorder?Doctor's answer:
Tics disorder is similar to epilepsy. Tics primarily occur during childhood and adolescence. It is a condition characterized by involuntary, repetitive, rapid motor tics, which can be vocal tics or one or more muscle tics. In addition to the above manifestations, some children may also have symptoms such as inattention, hyperactivity, or obsessive-compulsive behaviors, lasting at least two weeks. If the course does not exceed one year, it is called transient tics disorder, and chronic tics disorder is defined as lasting more than one year.
