Features: If you are a wise person with time, sitting under the afternoon sun, sipping a rich Biluochun tea, reminiscing about old photographs of bygone days, isn’t that delightful? If you are an engineer of the human soul, preparing lessons and teaching, both you and your students will gain both emotional and rational knowledge of history—what a rewarding read! If you are a young person with limited life experience and eager to acquire some historical knowledge, please join the era of visual learning; this is like cultural fast food in the style of KFC. If you are an entrepreneur, it is even more necessary to look at old photographs and captions during your leisure time. Displaying them in your bookshelf is also a trend when conducting business. If you are someone who overly focuses on reality, it is best not to browse such books, as the rise and fall, wealth and poverty depicted here may well be a reflection of your tomorrow. This is a dream of old Jiangnan in misty rain. As a Song Dynasty poem goes: "How many tales of the Six Dynasties’ rise and fall, have been woven into the leisurely talk of fishermen and woodcutters." This book is part of the series "Old Shadows and Past Events of Provinces," and perhaps more provincial old photographs will be released in the future. In the chapters of this book, there are many old photographs—taken and published by Japanese "travelers" in various parts of China during the 1920s. For a nation with expansionist ambitions, compiling such materials was highly beneficial in understanding China’s conditions and customs.
