Features: The Suzhou region is culturally prosperous, a land of outstanding talent, and is dotted with traditional ancient architecture. As a component of ancient architecture, pavilions are ubiquitous. Therefore, compiling a book about ancient pavilions is inevitably incomplete. With the support of Editor-in-Chief Xu Wentao, the writing team conducted in-depth research across various parts of the Suzhou region, meticulously investigating and measuring each included ancient pavilion. They strive to present the history, architectural features, artistic value, and aesthetic significance of every pavilion in both text and photographs to the readers. Suzhou Ancient Pavilions features 52 ancient pavilions in the Suzhou region and over 60 photographs, both old and new. These pavilions are mostly among the finest examples, reflecting the general overview of Suzhou's ancient pavilions and holding certain research and appreciation value. The book also offers good readability. This is a small gift presented by the Suzhou Folk Architecture Society to the readers in the Year of the Rabbit.
During the compilation process of Suzhou Ancient Pavilions, the book received strong support from the management of Suzhou's Humble Administrator's Garden, Lingering Garden, and Lion Grove Garden. Comrades Fang Peihe, Sun Zhiqin, Liu Su, Chen Zhong, and Hou Pingsheng from these gardens took time out of their busy schedules to personally contribute to the book, adding to its brilliance.
