Features: The Japan Institute of Architects, the Architectural Association of Korea, and the China National Council for Registration of Architects have been collaborating for over 10 years. The purpose of this cooperation is to foster friendship, promote technological advancement, and enhance mutual exchange among the three organizations. In 1985, the Japan Institute of Architects and the Architectural Association of Korea officially signed an agreement to establish bilateral ties. However, this relationship can be traced back 15 years prior to the agreement. Due to the emotional bonds formed through long-term contact, the Architectural Association of Korea served as a bridge connecting the China National Council for Registration of Architects, which in turn facilitated the trilateral cooperation.
The "Young Architects Showcase" was proposed at the third meeting in Osaka, Japan, and has been continuously supported. This initiative encourages young architects to participate in the conference. Since then, the opportunities for international exchange among young architects from the three countries have increased, and I believe this will mark the beginning of future international interactions. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the trilateral meeting of architects from China, Japan, and Korea in 2006, the China National Council for Registration of Architects summarized the achievements of the past 10 years. This idea was proposed by Chinese representatives at the 2005 meeting in Sapporo, Japan, and was widely supported.
Shared Pursuits – A Collection of Architectural Works from China, Japan, and Korea was organized and published by the Chinese side, with all relevant parties making great efforts to provide various materials. The collection covers a wide range of topics, including the works of highly motivated young architects and descriptions of the current state of art and technology. This outcome is a direct reflection of the value generated over 10 years of development and discussion.
