Features: The purpose of our research on ancient villages and residential buildings is primarily to systematically organize and identify them from historical and theoretical perspectives, serving as a basis for preserving these historical and cultural heritage. Secondly, we conduct scientific analysis and research on their environmental, social, and cultural contexts, as well as design approaches, to provide references and inspiration for contemporary architectural creation. The study of Huizhou traditional village residential buildings should be conducted comprehensively from multiple disciplines, including architecture, urban planning, sociology, geography, cultural anthropology, and folkloristics. This series focuses on surveying and mapping ancient villages and residential buildings in Huizhou, supplemented by concise textual explanations, aiming to establish a forefront and lay a solid foundation for this research. We believe that the publication of this series will undoubtedly make its due contribution to the study of ancient traditional villages and residential buildings, and we sincerely hope that it will be recognized and welcomed by people from all walks of life.
