Features: This book introduces the interdisciplinary research findings of cultural ecology, which spans fields such as anthropology, geography, and sociology, into the study of urban space and urban culture. It initially constructs a conceptual framework for understanding urban cultural ecosystems. Subsequently, it employs ecological research methods to comprehensively examine the development of urban space and the evolution of urban culture, systematically discussing the ecological evolution process of urban space from three aspects: developmental drivers, cultural ecological environments, and the ecological evolution of urban cultural species. The book selects representative northern coastal cities with foreign-influenced cultures—Tianjin, Qingdao, and Dalian—as empirical research subjects. Using a comparative research method, it analyzes the ecological processes of the formation and development of their unique regional urban cultures and their cultural ecological structures. Additionally, it proposes strategies for the protection and development of foreign urban cultures in the context of increasing cultural exchange in China. At the end of the book, it presents a prediction of "human-centric regression" for urban spatial cultural development in the information society and offers recommendations for developing urban spatial cultures tailored to the information age. This book is suitable for professionals engaged in urban planning management, urban planning and design, and architectural design. It also holds reference value for geographers and sociologists interested in urban culture. Furthermore, it can be used as a reading and reference material for faculty and students at relevant higher education institutions.
