Nanhai, Panghuang, and Gushi Xinbian are all based on the Complete Works of Lu Xun compiled by the Lu Xun Memorial Committee in 1938 and published by Shanghai Fusha. To help readers gain a deeper understanding of Lu Xun's novels, we invited the famous painter Ding Cong to provide illustrations for this book, which he created in the 1970s for Lu Xun's novels. "These thirty-three illustrations are a specimen of thirty-three novel illustrations." "He captured the essence of each character." (as quoted by the poet Li Yimeng of the Creation Society).
