Features: Fruit Basket = Magic Fruit Basket = Zodiac Love Story = Phantom Angel. Takarazuka Naoko's Fruit Basket is truly a rare gem among works, with its captivating storyline. The dozen or so shape-shifting characters are not an outlandish plot device; instead, the humorous and comedic plot, along with the witty and vivid dialogue, make Fruit Basket a beloved masterpiece among many readers. It is also one of the main promotional works by Shueisha in recent years.
The story primarily revolves around the Takarazuka family, a wealthy and influential clan, where 13 members are possessed by the 12 zodiac animals and a cat demon. These individuals have a strange trait: once they embrace a member of the opposite sex, they transform into their corresponding animals. Each of them carries their own worries and even heartbreaking pasts. The female protagonist, Shizuku, is like a rice ball mixed into a basket of fruits. Everyone initially believes she cannot blend in with them, but Shizuku gradually wins them over with her gentleness, kindness, and considerate nature. She helps them unlock long-unresolved emotional knots and earns their love and trust.
Now, Shizuku lives with the Takarazuka family. They have a secret: they transform into the 12 zodiac animals! During a relay race, Takarazuka family members Po Chun suddenly appears before Shizuku, Shoka, and Yuki! Shoka and Po Chun's competition unknowingly turns into a fight where Shizuku is the stakes (?). Additionally, on the eve of Valentine's Day, Yojo returns to the Takarazuka family and proposes a shocking suggestion!
