What is the reason for a baby's frequent vomiting?

Patient's question:

My baby has been spitting up frequently in the past two days. Sometimes, even after patting his back and burping him, he will suddenly vomit a large amount. He looks normal externally, and his temperature is not high. Could any expert please tell me what this might be? Thank you!

Doctor's answer:

For newborn vomiting, the first step is to analyze the possible causes of vomiting and take corresponding preventive and treatment measures based on different causes. The most common cause of vomiting due to improper feeding requires parents to improve feeding methods and practice reasonable feeding. The size of the nipple hole in the bottle should be appropriate. After feeding, the newborn should be kept upright, and their back should be gently patted to allow the air in the stomach to be expelled. The child should lie down to sleep about half an hour after finishing the milk. Raising the head, neck, and back while adopting an inclined right-side position can usually effectively stop or reduce vomiting. For infants with a relaxed heart, diluting and supplementing milk can prevent milk from spilling. This condition can resolve on its own. Newborns should be taken to the hospital immediately for diagnosis and treatment.
