Patient's question:
Newborn aspiration syndrome, the child couldn't eat for 3 days after birth, vomiting every time they tried. The county hospital gave intravenous fluids for three days with no improvement. Can this condition be treated?Doctor's answer:
Hello. Areflux syndrome (also known as pharyngeal reflux syndrome) refers to vomiting in newborns during the delivery process, caused by excessive swallowing of amniotic fluid, maternal blood, or vaginal mucus secretions. These secretions may be contaminated with meconium or bacteria, which irritates the gastric mucosa and leads to excessive secretion of gastric acid and mucus. It is commonly seen in children with difficult labor, asphyxia, or prolonged delivery. Mild symptoms generally do not require special treatment, while severe vomiting requires attention to side lying to avoid aspiration, appropriate fasting, and supportive treatment. After swallowing and vomiting, the child will recover within 1 to 2 days.
