Art activities enable children to coordinate their brains, eyes, and hands, perceiving the general trajectory of human understanding of things through the process of experience, observation-memory, imagination-performance-creation. They can stimulate vitality, promote harmonious development of body and mind, and play an important role in early childhood education and intellectual development. At the same time, art activities can also cultivate children's good thinking qualities and foster their love for life and nature. In art activities, children recombine and express their different experiences and perceptions, giving them new meanings to express themselves and their beautiful, innocent world of childhood. This book selects key content from years of art teaching practice at the Xicheng District Youth Palace in Beijing. These guidance lessons are centered on intellectual development, horizontally covering the use techniques of different painting tools, and vertically divided into four main types of courses: knowledge and technique, fun and intelligence, observation and memory, and imagination and creation. Each course type has a different focus—some mainly teach basic art knowledge and techniques; others combine intellectual games to fully engage children's thinking in painting; and others emphasize training in observation, memory, imagination, performance, and creative abilities. Each lesson in the book includes guidance notes with teaching objectives, key points, and requirements. They can be studied in order from simple to complex, or each lesson can stand alone based on the specific situation of the children. Children's Art ABC aims to provide art references for primary school, kindergarten teachers, and children, while also enabling parents without art expertise to use this book to guide and assist their children in learning to paint.
