Editor's Note – Classics: This series selects and compiles 100 outstanding original works of children's literature by 100 Chinese children's literature writers from the early 20th century to the present. The criteria for selection are as follows: First, the social impact of the works, their popularity among young readers, and the breadth of their influence on them; second, their contribution to the development of Chinese children's literature; and third, their creative vitality, including a strong sense of mission to long-term concern for the growth of minors and sustained engagement in children's literature creation.
Comprehensiveness: This series is the most complete collection of outstanding contemporary and modern Chinese children's literature. It includes the elite figures among five generations of Chinese children's literature writers since the May Fourth New Culture Movement at the turn of the last century. The 100 selected writers reflect the multi-ethnic diversity of the Chinese nation while presenting a panoramic view of the mainland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. The 100 works cover all genres of modern children's literature, making it the most comprehensive anthology of original Chinese children's literature.
Authority: This series is compiled by an elite editorial committee composed of the most authoritative children's literature experts in China today (listed in order of age): Yan Wenjing, Shu Peide, Jin Bo, Fan Faji, Zhang Luzhi, Wang Quangen, Gao Hongbo, and Cao Wenxuan. They are all authoritative professors of children's literature and renowned writers who are most familiar with the history and current state of Chinese children's literature creation and understand children's reading psychology.
Readability: Only outstanding children's literature that has reached the eyes of young readers can be considered a living and true classic. Through meticulous planning and editing, with an overall design that aligns with the aesthetic habits of young readers and effective packaging and marketing, we aim to enable the young readers of the new century to accept and appreciate these classic original Chinese children's literature works that have nurtured the beautiful souls of generations of children.
