Why did we choose Deng Zhenglai and his work "Where Is Chinese Law Heading?" as our target for critique? First and foremost, it is because of the significance of this work. As is well known, it offers a comprehensive critique of Chinese law over the past 26 years and provides a valuable exploration of its future prospects. There is another, more important and fundamental reason for choosing Deng Zhenglai and his "Where Is Chinese Law Heading?" as our target for critique. Behind the discussions in "Where Is Chinese Law Heading?" Deng Zhenglai initiates a profound reflection on the historical era in which Chinese academia finds itself and the "three-dimensional" stance and foundation of Chinese academia.
