Publish Date: 2002-01-01
Features: This volume is divided into five thematic sections: Cell Cycle Regulation and Apoptosis, Plant Reproductive Mechanisms, Cytoskeleton, Cell Development and Bioactive Molecules, and Cell Engineering and Technology. Cell cycle regulation and apoptosis remain hot research topics in the field of cell biology. This journal continues to publish thematic content on this subject in this volume, focusing on the latest advancements in cell cycle regulation mechanisms, particularly the study of cellular checkpoints and the regulation of cell cycles during animal embryonic development, and for the first time, introducing the regulatory mechanisms of cytokinesis. In terms of programmed cell death, the focus is on the genetic regulation of apoptosis, the relationship between apoptosis and diseases, especially the molecular mechanisms of arsenic-induced apoptosis and differentiation in leukemia cells.
The study of plant reproductive mechanisms has always been a hot topic in plant cell biology. This section includes the mechanisms of apomixis in angiosperms and the role of calcium-calmodulin messenger systems in pollen germination, pollen growth, and reproductive cell division. Intermediate filaments, as a type of cytoskeleton, have similar structures across different cell types but vary in composition. Research on fiber assembly mechanisms has gradually deepened, while functional studies remain like looking through a fog, continuously attracting research interest. In the cytoskeleton section, on one hand, it introduces the structure and function of neurofilaments, an important type of intermediate filament, and on the other hand, summarizes the research progress in the structure and assembly of intermediate filaments.
In the cell development and bioactive molecules section, it focuses on medically relevant cell biology content closely related to humans, such as human hepcidin and its relationship with liver regeneration, the production of mammalian red blood cells and their molecular mechanisms, the structure and function of cell adhesion molecules, the cellular and molecular basis of mucosal surface immune protection, and the research progress of a new tumor suppressor factor, P16.
In the cell engineering and technology section of this volume, it introduces the latest advancements in human antibody engineering research and an ideal cellular system in biotechnology—pollen and pollen tubes. With the rapid advancement of computer technology in recent years, the application of computers in biological research has also developed rapidly. Researchers can not only use the Internet (Internet) to engage in academic exchanges with peers domestically and internationally, staying up-to-date with the latest developments in international cell biology, but also rely on the multiple functions of computers in their research work, which plays an irreplaceable role. Therefore, this section specially publishes an article introducing the application of computers in the field of biological research.
