Photography China - 50 Years of Chinese Photography

Author: Bao Kun
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-12-01
Features: To reflect the richness of visual moments over more than half a century, we adopted a curator-driven approach to edit this book. Scholars and experts devoted great effort and enthusiasm, which deeply impressed us. The images collected from special historical periods such as the "Cultural Revolution" serve as authentic records of the development of New China and are inevitably marked by the imprint of their time. While some perspectives and angles may have certain limitations, as an academic work, we adhere to the principle of "serving the people and serving socialism" while fully respecting the creative labor of authors and experts. We provide these diverse images with opportunities for exchange, allowing the selected fragments from the vast sea of historical moments to possess sufficient inclusivity and greater diversity, in line with the policy of "let a hundred flowers bloom and let a hundred schools of thought contend," promoting the main melody while advocating diversity.
Images are everywhere, and contemporary Chinese visual culture, like international trends, is expanding rapidly. Photography plays an increasingly important role in the advancement of history. By exploring and researching the development of Chinese photography over the past 50 years, it is beneficial to further enhance the influence of photography in social life and provide valuable experiences and insights for future healthy development. We also hope this book can offer valuable assistance to readers, especially scholars in the study of visual culture.
