Features: In the current fervor of art-related entrance exams, there is a rising category that has emerged—broadcast and film television. This book primarily introduces the "behind-the-scenes" programs of film and television schools, including screenwriting, directing, cinematography, production, and film production, as well as related and adjacent disciplines. For convenience, let's refer to them as the "screenwriting-directing-cinematography-production" category. These programs have distinct divisions of labor, but their entrance exam formats are fundamentally similar. They all require interviews and written tests, with interviews including "self-introductions" and "answering examiner questions," and written tests including "film analysis" and "answering questions." Moreover, candidates can generally apply for multiple programs, so they are discussed together here. Here are a few important points to note:
First, the exam formats of different schools and programs vary, and they change almost every year. This book does not and cannot cover everything; students should adjust and supplement their preparation based on the exam syllabi of each school. This book does not represent any particular school or program but is a general overview of this category.
Second, art-related entrance exams place great emphasis on candidates' comprehensive qualities, artistic sensitivity, creativity, and the ability to understand and express. These qualities are developed through long-term cultivation, training, and accumulation, not through "focusing on key points" or rote memorization. This book is not a "magic formula" but only provides reminders about the basic formats. The examples listed are illustrative and not model answers; students should think broadly rather than copy them directly.
Third, this book includes a substantial amount of material, but it is not an exam syllabus and certainly does not cover everything. The section on "literary and artistic knowledge" is quite extensive, yet many schools no longer conduct separate written exams on "literary and artistic knowledge" in recent years. However, considering its significant reference value, it has been published separately as a book titled Literary and Artistic Knowledge. The chapters Television and Shooting and Editing with the Camera are particularly important for review, and this book should be used in conjunction with Literary and Artistic Knowledge.
Fourth, the chapters On Writing Stories from Film Analysis and On Writing Post-Viewing Reflections were written by Yi Pei. Additionally, he contributed significantly to the writing and publication of this book.
