Features: This textbook is a teaching material for undergraduate specialized basic courses in applied mechanical engineering. Based on the training objectives for frontline advanced applied technical talents in mechanical engineering, this book adheres to the teaching principle of "strengthening theoretical foundation, enhancing practical skills, highlighting innovative spirit, and optimizing comprehensive qualities." It is a revised version of the "Fundamentals of Material Forming Technology" for general higher education in electromechanical engineering published by China Machine Press in 2001.
The book takes the design of part shapes and structures and the adaptability of forming methods as its main thread, explaining various forming methods for engineering materials except for machining, as well as the structural processability and selection examples of commonly used forming methods. In addition to emphasizing widely used traditional forming methods, it also introduces new processes, technologies, and advancements in material forming with promising development prospects and current maturity.
The book is divided into six chapters: Liquid Metal Forming, Metal Plastic Forming, Joining Forming, Non-metallic Material Forming, Powder Metallurgy Forming, and Other Novel Forming Methods, as well as Material Forming Method Selection. Review questions and exercises are provided at the end of each chapter. The book is accompanied by multimedia teaching materials. It can serve as a textbook for mechanical engineering majors in general universities and colleges and also be referenced by relevant engineering technicians.
