Features: "Humans Are Not Dolphins—Reflections of a Simple Environmentalist" is a collection of writings on environmental topics by the author since 1999, comprising 72 articles with approximately 200,000 words. Many of the articles have been previously published in newspapers and magazines. The collection is divided into three parts—essays, (notes), and stories; letters; miscellaneous writings. It primarily addresses environmental issues and animal protection, with occasional reflections on technology and the environment. This collection is neither simple environmental knowledge nor a personal account of the author's environmental journey. Most of the articles present the author's unique perspectives, personal opinions, and sentiments on various environmental and animal protection issues. In this collection, there are numerous reflections and questions, and the author is reluctant to blindly accept some "accepted" scientific theories and behaviors. What inspired these 200,000 words was not the author's environmental knowledge or experiences, but pure, heartfelt emotions—love for nature, animals, and the living environment of humans, as well as a rejection of blind worship of science and technology. The author has never considered the environment to be an independent major theme but rather a subtitle under a larger theme—how to be a person and live. Often, it is not life pressures that force us to damage the environment, but unnecessary greed that actively exploits nature. The author also does not believe that knowledge can purify the heart or save the environment. What truly lacks in our education is emotional cognition and appreciation. Only sincere and even devout love for nature and life can be the true foundation for protecting the environment. This book aims to awaken more people's genuine emotional love, for compared to this true love, any dry theory pales in comparison.
