Features: Yao Xing Ge Kuo Si Wei (A Concise Rhyming Manual of 400 Medicinal Herbs) is an introductory text for learning Traditional Chinese Medicine, written by the Ming Dynasty physician Gong Tingxian. The book presents the properties, functions, and main indications of four hundred commonly used Chinese herbs in four-character rhyming verse. It is concise, easy to memorize, and has been widely circulated for centuries,. However, due to its age, the meanings of ancient and modern terms have evolved. Additionally, the limitations of four-character rhyming verse may lead to some unintended interpretations. To meet the needs of beginners in learning Traditional Chinese Medicine, we have compiled an annotated edition of Yao Xing Ge Kuo Si Wei. Based on Gong’s original text, this edition incorporates clinical practices and modern pharmacological research to provide annotations and explanations. The language is simple and clear, the content is rich and practical, making it suitable for students and teachers of TCM institutions to read and study.
