Features: Nicolaus Copernicus (1473-1543) was a great Polish astronomer. From a young age, he was interested in astronomy and was determined to dedicate his life to the field. As Copernicus's astronomical observation accuracy improved, the Ptolemaic system became increasingly flawed, and its dominant position began to waver. Inspired by the ancient Greek idea of a moving Earth, after countless observations and calculations, Copernicus proposed the "heliocentric theory," which posited that the Sun is at the center of the universe. He believed that the Earth rotates on its own axis and, along with the five known planets, orbits the Sun, while only the Moon orbits the Earth. Centered on this theory, he published the famous book On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres, bringing a new era of enlightenment to the ignorant field of astronomy. The heliocentric theory established by Copernicus was not only a great revolution in astronomy, promoting rapid development in astronomical research, but also a major innovation in humanity's cosmic worldview, severely undermining the feudal theocratic rule. From then on, natural science began to liberate itself from theology, and scientific progress advanced by leaps and bounds. Therefore, he was later honored as the "Father of Astronomy."
