Features: From Silence Begins (Part 1), As I began to touch the historical vicissitudes of Shanghai, soothing its fading relics, and gradually understanding the mysterious essence it holds, the city of Shanghai slowly receded from my sight, drifting away like a beach viewed from above the sky. Its transformations and changes emerged faintly, like scenes of past events shrouded in mist. It is a mythical, miraculous city, one that has always been activated by outsiders, a dazzling world where charm and ugliness, pride and humiliation, romance and ambiguity are pushed to their extremes. Setting aside its superficiality, countless stories of human struggles and subtle fragrances linger, like endless ripples in the long river of history. A lifetime is but an instant in it.
From Silence Begins (Part 2), The appearance of the city of Shanghai is changing at an unprecedented speed. What was once a beautiful, ancient street scene, architecture, or people may disappear before your eyes, replaced by something entirely new. Amidst the excitement, we often feel that something has been lost unknowingly—a deep-seated emotion, an indelible sentiment that begins to spread. The city has not become more beautiful in our eyes. Under the towering skyscrapers of steel, concrete, and glass, everything feels oppressive and restless. When once-glorious and outstanding old buildings stand alone amidst the high-rises, their beauty and vicissitudes fade helplessly into oblivion, a stirring, heart-stirring beauty that cannot be expressed in words.
