On an autumn night in 2001, at a construction site in the suburbs of Lanping City in western China, a excavator was lazily digging the ground. The roar of the excavator's engine sounded like an exhausted old horse panting, intermittent and weak.
"Big Head! Did you lose again last night?!" A heavy dump truck stopped beside the excavator. The skinny driver jumped out of the cab and asked loudly into the excavator where the middle-aged man nicknamed "Big Head" was.
"Damn it! It's really cursed! I've wasted another month!" Big Head cursed as he spat a mouthful of phlegm outside as a response to the person outside.
"Victorious in love, defeated in gambling!" The skinny driver took a cigarette from his cigarette case and threw it into Big Head's operator's cabin.
"Shut your mouth! Your bird!" Big Head caught the cigarette and put it in his mouth.
"I think you've been bewitched by that little girl! I say, it's time to burn incense!" The skinny driver lit a cigarette, took a deep breath, and then shouted at the middle-aged man with a smile.
"Burn your ass! Hey, where's Yao Jian Gang?" The middle-aged man used the lifting arm to dump the soil in the excavator's bucket into the skinny driver's truck and then asked the driver of another night shift.
"This kid's ''ing off again. I wonder, do I need to '' two rounds for you?" The skinny driver said.
"You little bastard, don't come here!" The middle-aged man turned the excavator around and aligned the bucket with the ground. He operated the lifting arm, and the excavator's bucket then dug into the ground. Suddenly, there was a loud rumble.
The excavator's bucket shook violently and sank into the ground. The excavator's bucket was stuck at the mouth of a dark hole. Due to the suddenness of the incident, the excavator's boom struggled with the ground, emitting a sharp screech.
"What's wrong? What's wrong?" Big Head and the skinny driver hurriedly ran to the front of the excavator's bucket.
"We're in trouble. We've hit an ancient tomb!"
