Features: This book includes short stories and novellas by Eileen Chang that were published on the mainland before 1952 but were not previously collected, such as The Golden Hairpin, Yin Bao Yan's Flower Boat Meeting, and The Creation. It also features short stories and novellas written in the 1950s while she was overseas, including The Red Chamber, Parting in Joy, and Fleeting Blossoms. Notably, the long-lost work Tulip by Eileen Chang, discovered in 2005, will be published for the first time. Tulip is a novella written by Eileen Chang in the 1940s. In 2005, Chinese scholar Li Nan discovered that the Shanghai newspaper Xiao Ribao serialized a novella titled Tulip under the name Eileen Chang from May 16 to 31, 1947. After further research by Chinese literary scholars Wu Fuhui and Chen Zishan, a leading authority on Eileen Chang, it was confirmed as her work.
Additionally, The Collected Works of Eileen Chang includes a fully restored novella, Xiao Ai. According to editor Chen Zishan, Xiao Ai was originally serialized in Shanghai's Yi Bao in 1951. It was rediscovered in early 1987 and later reprinted in Hong Kong's Ming Bao Monthly and Taiwan's Lianhe Daily with some adjustments or deletions. The newly edited version of Xiao Ai restores the original form of the initial publication in Yi Bao.
